Drummer/Producer Elijah Vazquez is fascinated with the impossible rhythms that the jazz greats could bang out as they pleased. Whether or not he's taking a page out of Milford Graves' book is debatable, but he opens Auspicious Grounds with a cardiac sample fibrillating into a multi-limbed percussive rattle of densely edited and seemingly minute rhythmic shifts. This is a brilliant display of a drummer at work, we present Elijah Vazquez, or as we like to call him - e.React. Listen.
